The Independence Volunteer Fire Department is accepting new applicants to serve as volunteer firefighters and support personnel.

What It Means to Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of our department. You’ll train with experienced firefighters, respond to emergencies, and help educate the public on fire prevention and safety. You don’t need prior experience — just commitment, reliability, and the willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Pass a background check and physical evaluation
  • Commit to regular training and department meetings
